New Disability Inclusion

In 2014 the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (NSW), replaced the Disability Services Act 1993 to set out how FACS will provide supports and services until the full roll out of the NDIS, and to make sure after the transition to the NDIS, that NSW continues to be a place where people with disability have access to mainstream services as part of our community.

The ‘Act’ also works to make clear that people with disability have the same rights as other people, and to promote the inclusion of people with disability by requiring Government departments and local Councils to engage in disability inclusion planning.

This workshop is for stakeholders who interact with people with disability, and policy makers addressing the inclusion of people with disability into the disability action plans.  The course places an emphasis on the principles of inclusion and the key elements of best practice, with a focus given to Disability and Inclusion Policy in New South Wales and specific requirements of Disability Inclusion Action Plans (DIAPs).
