Privacy Policy

Your Email Address and Personal Details

The Physical Disability Council of NSW website will only record your email address and other personal details in the event that you send us a message by email, join our mailing list or submit any form on our website (including but not limited to workshop registration forms, contact forms etc). The provision of personal details on the contact form is optional. Users may provide details for the purpose of receiving a reply to their feedback.

Your email address and personal details will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it. We collect and use personal information in order to contact our subscribers and supporters, to maintain our membership database, and to administer and deliver our workshops, educational courses, peer groups and peer mentoring program.

Your email address and personal details may be used from time to time for marketing purposes (e.g., membership drives) on approval of the Chief Executive Officer. Your email and personal details will not be added to a regular mailing list without your prior consent by way of a specific request to subscribe. You are able to opt out of all communications by contacting us at subscriptions@pdcnsw.org.au and asking us to place “Do not mail” and/or “Do not email” tags on your database entry. We also provide an ‘unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of many of our email communications. Your email address will be linked to other identifiable data you provide and will be stored on a secured customer relationship management database and emailing platform. We will not disclose your email address or personal details to any other organisation for any other purpose without your prior written consent except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant.

The types of information we may collect in some instances include your full name, date of birth, street address, phone number, email address, disability type, NDIS-plan status, accessibility requirements, and whether you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

PDCN may disclose personal information outside of the jurisdiction from which it was collected. In the conduct of PDCN’s business, PDCN may transfer to, hold or access information personal information from various countries including Australia. The Privacy Laws of countries other than from which the personal information was collected, may not provide the same level of protection as the Privacy Laws of the country from which the personal information was collected. However, this does not change PDCN’s commitments to safeguard your privacy and PDCN will comply with all applicable laws relating to the cross-border data disclosure.

Cookies

The PDCN website uses a “cookie” for maintaining contact with a user through a PDCN website session. A cookie is a small file supplied by the PDCN website and stored on your computer by your web browser software when you access the PDCN website. The cookie allows the PDCN website to recognise you as an individual as you move from one page to another. The PDCN website uses analytics software which makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

  • the user’s IP address
  • the user’s top level domain name
  • the date and time of access to the site
  • pages accessed and documents downloaded or viewed
  • the previous site visited
  • the type of browser software in use
  • where the user was referred from

Please note that the majority of websites that you visit on the internet do this.

No attempt will be made to identify anonymous users except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet Service Provider’s log files.

Secure Payments

We use PayPal to process secure online payments through our website for PDCN membership, donations, and payment for educational courses and workshops. PayPal collects personal information as part of this process, you can read the PayPal privacy statement here https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full. Any relevant personal information that is collected by PDCN as part of accepting payments is stored on a secure database.

Queries, Concerns and Further Information

If you wish to access or correct any information we hold about you, or if you have any queries, concerns or require further information relating to privacy and PDCN website, you are invited to email the Chief Executive Officer at admin@pdcnsw.org.au.

If you are concerned about a breach of your privacy, or this policy, and wish to complain about how PDCN has handled your personal information, we ask that you put your request in writing to us at admin@pdcnsw.org.au. PDCN will investigate your complaint and will use reasonable endeavours to respond to you in writing within a reasonable time of receiving the written complaint.

If we fail to respond to your complaint within a reasonable time, you may have the right to make a complaint to the Information and Privacy Commission.
