Building Opportunities and Removing Barriers in Regional NSW
Here at PDCN, we know that distinct opportunities and challenges face people with disability living in regional and remote Australia. These are intensified when natural disasters and border town complexities are involved, such as those experienced by the Northern Rivers communities.
This June, we are coming to Tweed Heads and Lismore to join forces with locally based organisation Disability Advocacy NSW to run two days of events for people with disability, their parents and informal carers, as well as for providers.
We will be running free empowering workshops for people with disabilities, their parents and informal carers. Attendees will also enjoy Meet and Mingle lunches, morning and afternoon teas, and share experiences of living with disability in the Northern Rivers during community consultation sessions. PDCN’s advocacy work is shaped by the voices of people with physical disability, and these consultations are paid opportunities for people with lived experience to contribute to our work. Spaces are limited to 10 participants per consultation session, so early registration is essential.
Service providers are invited to our Disability Inclusion Matters in the Northern Rivers providers’ networking events to explore and share what’s happening in the disability space in our local communities and across the state.
Your voices, shared at these events, will highlight key issues that PDCN will take forward with local, state and federal government. These insights will directly shape the priorities PDCN advances through its systemic advocacy work to make positive change for people with disabilities.
To help build opportunities and remove barriers faced by people with disability living in regional and remote Australia, our CEO Ed Morris says, ‘We are committed to travelling across NSW and to collaborate with organisations on the ground in regional and remote areas to better engage with, empower and represent the physical disability community in each place. Your voice does and will make a difference.’
So come to learn, share your stories, amplify your voices, meet and mingle with the disability community, and leave feeling empowered.
Registration is required for catering purposes and for the paid consultation opportunities.
