As announced by the Minister for Transport earlier this month, the Ministry of Transport will supervise a Wheelchair Accessible Taxi (WAT) driver 'drop fee' trial in New South Wales

The trial will commence on Saturday, 1 December 2007. The payment of $8.47 ($7.70 plus GST) will be made on TTSS M50 journeys made in a WAT.

There will be no cost incurred to passengers. Drivers are not permitted to ask you for extra money to cover the incentive payment.

The Ministry has written to the following advising them of the initiative:

  • All WAT drivers
  • All WAT operators
  • All M50 participants in the Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme
  • All taxi networks in NSW.

I have attached copies of relevant documents for your information. This information can also be accessed at the Ministry's website www.transport.nsw.gov.au A toll free number 1800 200 592 has been set up to answer any questions you may have in regard to the trial.

Should you have any query or comment, please be in touch with Robert Grieve on telephone 9689- 8894.
