The Physical
Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) congratulates
the Federal Government on its first Budget. It's
a solid step towards improving services for
people with disabilities in NSW.
PDCN believes that there
should be an immediate review of the Disability
Support Pension (DSP) to address the problems
associated with the cost of disability and to
enable people with physical disabilities to be
more productive members of the
community.
PDCN also believes that
the program which gives bonus payments to
persons who receive the Age pension and the
Carer's Allowance should be expanded to include
people who receive the Disability Support
Pension.
PDCN looks forward with
interest to the Federal Government co-operating
with the States to develop a National Disability
Strategy which will effectively address the
inequitable and discriminatory gaps in support
and services within both the State and Federal
system.
