Companion Card for Carers

The Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) congratulates the New South Wales Government on the Companion Card for carers announced yesterday by The NSW Minister for Disability Services, Kristina Keneally. The card, to be introduced this year means people in NSW who require the support of a carer will now be able to take their carer on public transport and to events for the prices of a single ticket.

PDCN believes the Companion Card will provide people with physical disabilities and their carers across NSW with an answer to the problems of affordability and access, giving those with higher support needs a greater ability to participate in their community.

PDCN supports this initiative which recognizes the important role of carers and also addresses the cost of disability in real terms.
