NSW Three
western disability support services say they may be
forced to cut services to fund new wage increases.
The New South Wales Government has
granted workers in all non-government disability services
a pay rise over three years but will not fund the
increase.
The Dubbo-based Westhaven
Association, the House with No Steps in Forbes and
Bathurst's Glenray Disability Services say they will have
to reduce service levels to pay for the rises.
The general manager of Westhaven,
Gordon Tindall, says the increases will cost his
organisation $300,000.
"The only way we can survive is to
think about how we can reduce some of our services," Mr
Tindall said.
"It's not what we want to do but
since we aren't licensed to print money - essentially
aren't able to raise prices around the services we
provide to our 96 disabled people - then we simply have
to look at other options which can only be the reduction
of services to those people."
