Media Release - PDCN

NSW, Australia — The Physical Disability Council (PDCN) has been awarded a grant by the NSW Department For Women to establish a Women With Disability Network in NSW.

Working with our organisational partner, the Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association, we will support participants to create and sustain an autonomous network that opens up a space for women with disability to come together as a force for change.

In New South Wales:

  • More than half of all people with disability are women.
  • Almost 20 per cent of all women have a disability.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we send our best wishes and greetings to women everywhere. We hope that our Women With Disability Network will develop over the course of the year ahead to make a positive contribution to the lives of all women.

Women participating in the Network will be joining the Women’s Day March and Rally in Sydney on Saturday, March 13th. If you want to join us there, meet at Sydney Town Hall at 10.30 a.m. The march leaves at 11.30 a.m. for a rally at Hyde Park. We’ll be hanging out in the park during the speeches. Bring lunch and join us for the afternoon.
