Queensland's Disability Services Minister, Judy Spence, has taken a swipe at the Federal Government over funding for the disabled. Ms Spence was speaking at a uniform presentation in Brisbane for Queensland athletes competing in the seventh National Games for Special Olympics. She says the minister responsible, Senator Amanda Vanstone, does not appear to understand the needs of the disabled. "What they've offered to Queensland and to the rest of Australia in terms of disability funding is in fact shameful," she said. "We're about to sign a five year disability agreement with the Federal Government. "The money that they've offered has been less than they've offered in growth funding in the last five years, so all of the states have said to the Federal Government that the offer is poor, that it's not enough and that we want Senator Amanda Vanstone to put more money on the table."
