REVIEW OF THE MOBILITY PARKING SCHEME

In 2011, Mr Duncan Gay, Minister for Roads & Ports announced a review of the current NSW Mobility Parking Scheme. The review is being conducted by an Independent Advisory Committee chaired by Mr Richard Bull.

This review is primarily focused on identifying improvement to the disability parking scheme. The discussion paper raises a number of issues including:

  • Changes to the eligibility criteria to better align with the national scheme. This would result in a greater focus on the applicant’s functional ability to walk, and a tightening of the eligibility criteria for temporary permits.
  • Changes to the concessions for time limited parking
  • New record-keeping requirements for holders of organisational permits
  • Changes to the penalties for permit misuse

Stakeholders are invite to contribute to the review by:

  • Making a submission to the discussion paper. Due Friday 20 July 2012.
  • Filling out the online survey
  • Attending one of the public consultation meetings. The proposed locations and timetable for these consultations are:
