Carer Survey and Consultations Open
Background to this project: The NSW Department of Family and Community Services: Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) has engaged Nous Group, an independent consulting firm, to evaluate the NSW Carers Action Plan 2007-2012. The Carers Action Plan can be downloaded from this site: http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/policies/pd/2007/PD2007_018.html. The Carers Action Plan was succeeded by the NSW Carers (Recognition) Act 2010. The purpose of the NSW Carers (Recognition) Act 2010 is to recognise and increase awareness of the valuable economic and social contribution that carers make to the NSW community. The Act establishes a Carers Charter with 13 Principles and a Carers Advisory Council. The Act also sets out certain requirements for Public sector agencies. Information on the Act and what it means for carers can be found at http://www.adhc.nsw.gov.au/individuals/caring_for_someone.
