Making the Move and Stepping out - Transition Information Kits

September 2010

The NSW Government has produced two information kits that will help families with a child who has a disability to cope with their progression through school. The resources cover the transition from primary to secondary school and the final years of secondary education.

Making the move supports families in planning and managing the transition of their child with a disability from primary to secondary school. For more information, please click here.

 Stepping out provides information to help families support their teenage son or daughter with a disability as they completed the final school years and started their life as a young adult. For more information, please click here.

Making the Education Revolution Acccessible for Everyone

Australia — Disability Discrimination Commissioner, Graeme Innes, has congratulated the Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and her Department on the preparation of a fact sheet on the interaction of proposed new Disability (Access to Premises - Buildings) Standards (Premises Standards) and the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program.

School Leavers with the Disability Urged to go to University

School leavers with a disability will today be urged to pursue their education at university.

The NSW Minister for Disability Services Paul Lynch will push home the message when launching the inaugural Disability Awareness Week at the University of NSW.
