New guideline on Premises Standards released 30 March 2011
Disability Discrimination Commissioner, Graeme Innes, released a guideline that will assist building professionals and those concerned with access to better understand how the Premises Standards apply to new and upgraded public buildings. The Disability (Access to Premises – buildings) Standards 2010 (the Premises Standards) commence on 1 May 2011. The Guideline on the application of the Premises Standards is available online at www.humanrights.gov.au/disability_rights/standards/PSguide.html

Pedestrian Bridge linking Hyde Park North to Hyde Park South
6 December 2010.
This letter has been written in response to a recent inquiry regarding the need to provide greater pedestrian access across Park Street, linking Hyde Park North to Hyde Park South via an overhead pedestrian bridge. Whilst providing greater access to all pedestrians, PDCN believes that this would enhance traffic flow and relieve congestion.

Tours of Ballast Point Park in Birchgrove Limited by access
4th October 2010
PDCN has been made aware that the park, which opened less than 2 years ago, may provide only limited access for people with disability. The tours of the park on October 30, at 10 and 11.30am are an opportunity to highlight access issues to park architect Phillip Coxall.
