PARKING rangers have a new weapon in their arsenal to crack down on disability-parking permit cheats, but advocates warn it may not be enough to stamp out widespread abuse. City of Sydney rangers are being equipped with iPads that have access to a database of all permits that have been lost, stolen, destroyed, revoked or issued to people who have died. The system enables rangers to do on-the-spot checks and issue fines of up to $530 where a permit is being used improperly.
Ruth Robinson, from the Physical Disability Council of NSW, said abuse of the mobility parking scheme was widespread in Sydney. For the full article,
