Able-bodied drivers are abusing disabled parking permits - denying legitimate permit holders the chance to use the spaces, advocacy groups claimed yesterday.  The groups want tougher policing of fraudulent use of permits, which they said was rife throughout NSW.

The City of Sydney's city operations director, Garry Harding, said that, of 94 permits inspected in a targeted operation, six cards were confiscated and 11 fines issued.

"In some inner-city streets there are more cars parked with Australian Disability Parking Scheme cards displayed than cars without," he said. For the full article, please click here.
