Somewhere To Sit

Somewhere to Sit. What is it?

Background

The Physical Disability Council launched ‘Somewhere to Sit’ as part of the Liveable Communities panel presentation at its AGM this October. It is all about empowering local communities through the availability of public seating (both indoor and outdoor). Encouraging people to look at how it affects them and how making simple changes at the grass roots level can make things better for everyone. Seating is one small way a community can become more accessible and inclusive for all. Seating is one way to address the isolation that comes with reduced mobility, allowing people to continue to enjoy being part of their community by contributing to it. Public seating is one small way to stay part of the community regardless of age.

If you have examples of public seating in your area or ideas on how it can be improved send us an email and we’ll put it on the website. If you would like to organise a presentation, or if you would like more information, please contact us below.
